Life is good......
It has been while since we have posted, so I thought it was a good time for an update! Our dossier has been in Poland for about a month now. I can't believe it is finally there. I was actually worried about this part driving us crazy, not knowing when a referral would come.....would it take a month or two or a year. But actually it is very nice knowing it is in Poland now and our time will come when it is suppose to. In the mean time we are just keeping busy with life, enjoying some signs of spring, and planning for this next adventure in life!

I-797 made it through the big snow storm of 2010!
We are so excited as our I-797 (USCIS) approval notice made it today in spite of the 2010 snowstorm (Ramie had a snow day today...as this is rare in the South!) We are actually in shock as we thought it would take closer to 3 months. We even had a minor glitch with the homestudy, (we received the dreaded pink slip) but it was taken care of by our agency within days. Our fingerprint appointment last week was very uneventful, but nice to get out of the way! When our agency congratulated us on facebook for being approved we held off celebrating until we received the official form today. We plan to get this on its way to be apostilled as soon as possible. We also fedex'd 28 documents to the South Carolina Secretary of State to be apostilled today. I love days like this when something exciting happens....it makes the whole thing feel real!

Fingerprint appointment
Hoping our fingerprint appointment from the USCIS would come this week, we ran to the mailbox each day. Well....it came on Saturday! We are not only excited to check this task off, we are so thankful because it fell between two very important meetings for Vito. He will fly home on the 26th from Florida, we will go to the appointment on the 27th and he will head to Asheville right after for a couple of days. We also had 29 documents notarized over the weekend....thank you Nancy! After our agency checks over all of the documents we will send them to be apostilled.

Homestudy Complete+I-800A sent in=a great day!
Today a couple of milestones have been reached. Last week we received word from our social worker that our homestudy was complete! We couldn't be happier. Vito was able to pick up the completed homestudy from our agency on Friday along with the I-800A instructions. Over the weekend we filled it out... proofed it, and then proofed it again. Today we dropped it off at the local Fedex dropbox with our certified check. In case you are wondering the I-800A starts the process to bring a child into the United States from another country. It generally takes 3 months to complete, if all goes well. At some point they will contact us to come into their office for biometric tests. So for now we are going to just enjoy the holidays!
